Performing Arts Department

The Māngere College Performing Arts Department aims to enhance our student’s confidence and creativity through the disciplines of Dance, Drama and Music. Through studying these mediums in a safe, secure, and supportive environment we develop originality and the student’s ability to express ideas through performance and composition-based activities. We offer a wide range of platforms throughout the year for students to excel in their artistry and present to a mixture of audiences including those at our Performing Arts Showcase, Community Concerts, Competitions and at Awards Ceremonies. We have a dedicated team of teachers and tutors who work closely with all our students and promote practices that broaden their creative horizons and expose them to different styles and perspectives. We engage with a diverse group of external professionals, organisations, orchestras and coaches or mentors to give our students the best chances of succeeding in the Performing Arts. When it comes to decision making and our teaching philosophy, we always ensure that the students are very much at the centre.
